  • VERSES WE JUST AUTOMATICALLY SKIP OVER!

I love some of the one-liners in 1 Thessalonians 5:19--22 (NLT)

19--'Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.'

    20-'Do not scoff at prophecies,'

21--but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.

22--Stay away from every form of evil.'

I apologize to any new spiritual visitors for my very carnal sense of humor that I won't give up in this life

Let's take the last verse first--Stay away from every form of evil. Is Paul kidding? lol Stay away from every form of evil. Do you know anyone who does that? How do you do that? You still have to go to school and/or work in most instances. Anyone watch as much TV as I do? Don't you agree that if we complied with this verse we would all have to get rid of our TV sets. Even the commercials are shameful, but I don't blush anymore.

How about 'don't stifle the Holy Spirit?' Most pastors are telling us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I just assume that I stifle the Holy Spirit all the time. However, in my carnal case, I know HE is not frustrated, but still has HIS way with me.

I cannot even comment on prophecies. I think what is passed off as prophecies is just a big joke. No wonder the scripture goes on to say to test everything said by these speakers of prophecy. At least in the Old Testament, if a guy was dumb enough to fake a prophecy and it did not come true, he was executed. lol If we did that today, there would be far less prophesying and more appeals for genuine repentance. BTW, I repented once a few years ago in a hospital where I almost died 5 times. I was able to repent when I felt my personal death was imminent. lol

Be honest, 99% of you like me, just blow by these verses. They are too scary to contemplate.

    Blessings

  • CAN ANYONE BE JOYFUL ALL THE TIME?

1 Thessalonians 5:16--18 (NIV) 'Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances , for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.'

I hesitate using certain works in 'Revelife.'----words like, 'try.' Works like that trigger the minds of many fine Christians who will prove that 'trying' does not work because it is effort by the 'flesh.' lol

I do try to be joyful, have a mindset open to the Lord for prayer, and thankful for everything. I like trying that. It is fun for me and God sure helps. It does not take any brains to be a sourpuss, and I want to be a joyful old guy. In the past over at Xanga, some really super Christians really let me know what a poor Christian I was. lol That cracked me up. I never said that I was good Christian like them and many of my Christian visitors. I just want to be authentic. There really is too much pretend Christianity in church--acting right because it is expected. Bummer.

Like today!!! I thanked God that my right leg is in pain again because the third steroid injection failed due to me suddenly being overwhelmed in a sneezing frenzy that lasted a long time. The doctor told me that people actually broke ribs with severe sneezes. So just when i was pain free, I went back to pain, but not as bad as at the beginning. I try to keep the prayer channel open during the day so I can send SOS's to heaven.

I try to be joyful, prayerful and thankful like God wants. I suppose someone can show that this is just Frank's fantasy field for frivolous feelings of flesh. lol Anyway, I loved today. God was good. He sent me many problems today and like God always helped me with them. He is nice to be around.

    Good Night Everybody,

  • LIVING WITH JESUS WHEN YOU ARE ASLEEP!

1 Thessalonians 5:10 (NIV) 'He died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.'

Here is a rich verse so easy to slide by--Why did Jesus die for us according to this verse? He died for us so that we may live together with him---awake or asleep. That is beautiful. I assume we are taking about life or death with the words awake or asleep based on the overall context.

Jesus wants to live together with us. That sounds so warm and cozy. He once said that He wanted to be our Friend, but of course, He would like us there trying to obey His commands. He does not throw in lines like, 'I will be your Friend if you obey my commands, to cheat us out of His friendship like He knows we are such Losers that we could not do it anyway. His love for us warms our hearts so much that we find ourselves obeying Him more and more. Jesus said the two top laws were based on love. He said outsiders would know that we were His disciples if we loved other Christians. Jesus message is love driven and it makes me want to follow Him more and be closer to Him. Jesus does that to you.

I suppose if you feel the need to prove you are unworthy before you embrace His love, I guess that is OK. I hope you all find His love very inviting.

  • WHY I CANNOT GET ALONG WITH SOME CHURCH GOERS!

1 Thessalonians 5:9 (NLT) 'For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out His anger on us.'

Some read this verse and see the first half. Others see this verse and see the second half. I just don't don't do well with those church goers focused on the second half of the verse. If you read the entire verse, it is a wonderful statement of God's love for us.

    blessings,
